It’s a busy time at Shotley Kidzone, the children are enjoying our fabulous outdoor facilities, including our new hobbit home in the Caterpillar room garden.
Many thanks to Ross Peters for building us such a fabulous new play home. Thanks also to Spring Lodge for their kind donation at Christmas, which has meant we are creating a growing area/vegetable patch within the Butterfly Garden - to allow the children to take part in the growing experience, take care of the plants and sample them when grown.
Not only are the children enjoying the extensive outdoor facilities but we are preparing our older children (based within our Butterfly Room) to start school in September and have transition sessions planned for them to spend time within the reception room environment and meet the reception year staff and integrate with the school children.
On Saturday 7th May are holding an Outdoor Play Workshop for parents, to discuss and share information on the importance and benefits of outdoor learning for children. The session is open to all, and takes place in the Butterfly Room.
There will be a crèche available in the Caterpillar room for those that need to bring their children along, so the children can play whilst parents or grandparents can find out why Kidzone place such emphasis on outdoor play and what they can do to support this learning.
The workshop runs from 10-11.30, please contact Kidzone (all contact details below) if you would like to come along.
Shotley Kidzone cares for children from six months onwards, with two individual settings within the school grounds to cater for all childcare needs.
We also run Breakfast Club and After School club, plus holiday activities.
We are currently working on our new website but we regularly update our Facebook page (Shotley Kidzone) with news, updates, and pictures.
We are holding an Open Day on Saturday 23rd April so feel free to come along to view the facilities and discuss any childcare requirements you might have with staff, committee members and/or parents of children attending the setting – we would love to meet you and your children.
Shotley Kidzone is a charity and without the support of local businesses, parents and the village would not be able to offer our children the fantastic pre-school experience they receive. We run several fundraising events throughout the year which are open to all families and people living in and around Shotley, we love to see new faces whilst enjoying an event and raising funds for our pre-school.
