Welcome To Shotley

Nestled between the rivers Orwell and Stour on the Essex/Suffolk border, Shotley is a picturesque village with around 2,500 residents and a strong community feel, which has led it to being named both Babergh and Suffolk Village of the Year.

The wonderful views alone make Shotley a marvellous tourist destination but add the history and culture gained from its two war cemeteries at St Mary's Church - maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission - and the HMS Ganges museum at Shotley Marina together with the many walks (routes of which can be found on the outside of the Bristol Arms public house) you then have a wonderfully interesting area to explore.

A wide range of activity groups for young and old and some great faciities make Shotley a wonderful place to live. See more...

PLEASE SEE BELOW SOME DETAILS ON THE NEW IMPROVED SHOTLEY PARISH WEBSITE.  CHECK IT OUT AND LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

Pages updated so far include:

  • Parish Council - this section has been updated to include latest meeting information (agenda, minutes, current policies and documents, parish plan etc.)  The minutes archive back to 2006 has been populated and is now published.
  • Local News under the News section - you can now view In Touch and the Noticeboard from this page.
  • Most of the pages under the Services section have been improved, eg Doctors, Transport, Peninsula Recycling, Food & Drink etc.  Take a look and let the Parish Clerk know if you have any suggestions, amendments or improvements.

NEW ON THE WEBSITE 

  • Two new Sections can be viewed from the Home page:
    Parishes Round the Peninsula - see what is happening in other parishes from here to Ipswich.
  • Links to other sites of interest - if you know of something which might be of interest to Shotley residents, let the Parish Clerk know.
In the Services Section, on the Doctors page, you will find a link to a new Advice & Support page. 

Under the Contacts Section you will find two new pages: Emergency Numbers and Essential Services.

The Groups Section is a work-in-progress and will be published as it is updated.
