A Parish Council is required to adopt a number of governance documents and policies. These set out how decisions are made and what procedures are followed to ensure that the Council operates transparently and efficiently.
Our "Standing Orders" are, in effect, our rule book and are based on statutory procedures laid out in the Local Government Act 1972. Shotley Parish Council adheres to the model NALC (National Association of Local Councils) template, tailored where appropriate to suit our parish's needs.
The Financial Regulations cover the financial management side of operations.
These and most of our other policies and procedures are reviewed annually by the full Council in order to remain relevant and lawful.
All our policy documents are available on our website or by request to the Parish Clerk on Parish.Clerk@shotleyparishcouncil.org
