Anglian Water are undertaking work within Freston, Chelmondiston, Woolverston, Shotley and Shotley Gate.
The work is due to start on site early 2023. However, before the work begins, Anglia Water needs to undertake some archaeology work to help better understand the ground conditions within the areas in which they are going to be working.
The archaeology work will include an easement trench which will be excavated by a mechanical excavator equipped with a toothless ditching bucket with topsoil stored adjacent to the trench. All machinery use will be conducted under archaeological supervision and end when the first significant archaeological horizon or natural substrate is revealed (whichever is encountered first). If significant depths of subsoil are present beneath the topsoil, evaluation trenches will be excavated through the soil to provide a 5% coverage of areas affected. Where deep excavations need to be left overnight, orange netlon fencing will be erected for safety purposes.
The archaeology work is due to start on 28 November and will be continued right up till Christmas. With regard to the site workforce, a surveyor will be walking the archaeology work, recording features and there will be a banksman to operate the vehicle movement on site and vehicles from the members of our team completing the work in the area.
Anglian Water will of course be in touch with the progress of this work and if there are any questions throughout or before the archaeology work is due to take place, please let me know and I will be happy to assist where I can.
If there is anything further that I can assist you with, please do let me know and I will be happy to assist you where I can.
