Police have launched an investigation after bones were discovered on Shotley beach. Local woman Hannah Mortem stumbled across what she believes was a human jaw bone and vertebrae while out walking and called police who collected them and took them away to be examined. A Suffolk Police spokeswoman said: ”Suffolk Police were contacted at 11.20am this morning, Wednesday 10 June, by a member of the public who reported finding what they believed to be a human jaw bone on the beach at Shotley Gate. “Officers attended and collected the bone, along with some other bones, and these will now be tested to determine whether they are human or not and how old they are.” Bones are often washed up on the beach, many proving the animals and there have even been wooly mammth teeth discovered. Police are treating this seriously as it is better to be safe than sorry.
