- The Shotley & Erwarton Good Neighbours scheme is a non-profit making organisation which has been active since 6th April 2005.
- The scheme is one of a number set up under the auspices of Suffolk Acre, now known as CAS (Community Action Suffolk).
- How can we help?
- By giving lifts to appointments, especially hospital appointments, these do not necessarily need to be local, we have taken clients to Addenbrookes & Clacton. We are happy to wait whlst you attend your appointment or can just drop you off, if required we can accompany to your appointment.
- Changing light bulbs & possible minor repairs
- Collecting prescriptions
- Filling out forms
- Shopping
- Posting parcels
- Befriending
The scheme aims to provide a variety of help in rural communities and is manned by a team of local volunteers, all who have been DBS checked. Help is available to all ages for one off trips we do not do regular trips, we do ask for a 48hr notice if possible for trips outside of the village but understand surgery appointments are not always able to be booked ahead. A small mileage fee will be cgarged for trips outside of the village to cover volunteers fuel costs.
If you require help or know of someone who does, please ring 07799873881. Please leave a message if the phone isn’t answered & we will get back to you as soon as possible.
If you require any other assistance or would consider becoming a volunteer, no regular commitment is necessary, please email the secretary Danuta Tarbard: danutatarbard@aol.com
