Shotley Stour Footpath Renovation Group receives £5000 award
'The Footpath Group is to be awarded £5000 from the the 'Partnership Working' fund. This fund, managed by 'The Suffolk Foundation' is to recognise the work the Group has done to install Erosion Protection to part of Shotley Cliff on the banks of the river Stour at Shotley Gate. By successfully working with the Statutory Bodies, the Shotley Community raised sufficient funding to pay for the work, and to renovate the picnic area at the bottom of Bristol Hill. The Group continues to work with Shotley Parish Council in helping to manage the 7 acre woodland at the top of Shotley Cliff and 50 acres of river Stour mudflats that the Parish Council purchased for the local Community in 2012.
Suffolk County Councillor Colin Spence will present the cheque to the Footpath Group on Thursday 7 November at 2.30pm, at the Bristol Hill Picnic Area. The presentation will be covered by their press team, and it is expected that the Shotley Project will be featured alongside other award winning projects in the East Anglian Daily Times and Daily Star.
If possible please join the Group on Thursday at 2.30pm, and let's show our guests how pleased we are to be receiving this award. The money will be used to part fund the next phase of Erosion Protection at Shotley Gate.
Note: Colin Spence is a member of SCC's Cabinet, with responsibility for 'Public Protection' including 'Voluntary Liaison'.
