As many will be aware, we have recently undertaken further fund-raising for black-out curtains for the village hall to enable films to be screened for more months of the year. They will also benefit the Drama Group and some private hire bookings. Many of the local Shotley organisations took part in fund-raising events making it a real village-wide activity. This has also had the effect of helping to renew the community support for the village hall with the aim of off-setting costs to keeping hire charges as low as possible.
Thanks to the tremendous support received, the funds required for the purchase of the black-out curtains have now been obtained. We managed to raise £1,750 with the help of the local community (including donations from the Shotley Social Club and the Drama Group). We are also extremely grateful for the valuable funding support received from the Shotley Parish, Suffolk County (via Cllr. Dave Wood’s Locality Budget) and Babergh District Councils and are pleased to be able to say that we have now reached our fund-raising target and plan to have the curtains installed by the end of March
