From a letter received by a resident of Shotley Gate:
"Shortly you will notice an increased Anglian Water presence in and around Shotley Gate. This is because Anglian Water are beginning work on an environmental improvement scheme to reduce the amount of rainfall that is entering the foul network. This will lead to benefits through improved operational performance of the sewerage system and reduce the risk of flooding.
The scheme will provide a pipeline to collect highway drainage from Estuary Road, Estuary Crescent and Broadwater Gardens (see map). The extent of the pipeline is from the Stour Estuary opposite the Bristol Arms, along Bristol Hill and Estuary Road. The pipeline will also be laid along part of Estuary Crescent.
Anglian Water intends to maintain access to properties throughout the duration of the construction work, although there may be delays at times while construction vehicles are moved. The pipeline wil be installed in stages to minimise the length of the street affected.
During the works, for health and safety reasons, it is requested that vehicles are not parked on the street to allow construction to take place. Local residents will be contacted nearer the time with more details about this, as well as other traffic management arrangements.
To share the plans and explain in details what will be done to reduce the risk of flooding in this area, a Public Information Event will be held at:
The Bristol Arms, Bristol Hill, Shotley Gate, Ipswich IP9 1PU, on Tuesday 3rd October 2017, between 3pm and 7 pm.
Please feel free to drop in at any time."
