In what is a great example of community partnership between “Shotley Corona Buddies”, the Shotley Parish Council, the “Shotley and Erwarton Good Neighbours Scheme”, and the Shotley Village Hall, we are now working to establish a Food Parcel Scheme aimed at helping those within our community who may need some assistance during the current crisis.
The scheme is open to anyone within the community who is shielded, vulnerable or self-isolating, those who may already qualify for extra support, and those who may find themselves needing some assistance while waiting for financial aid from the Government, as well as any other extraordinary circumstances.
We intend to operate a system of self-referral and ask that you contact our Parish Clerk (see below) in the first instance to register for the scheme.
For those who are shielding/ isolating/ vulnerable - if you have a support mechanism already in place, we ask that you continue to use it please, if possible.
We have secured funding to help with the cost of the Food Parcels and will continue applying to various other sources if necessary.
To register for the scheme please contact Dina Bedwell, via e-mail on (preferred method) or call 01473 788248 (voicemail may be left).
If you are a regular user of the “Shotley and Erwarton Good Neighbours Scheme”, you may also let your volunteer know that you would like to register, and they will contact us on your behalf with the relevant details.
We will need to know some basic information about your household to allow us to put a parcel together for you. Your data will be managed in accordance with GDPR guidelines as much as possible but may need to be shared with other local authorities, charities and support organizations, if necessary.
