Shotley Stour Footpath Renovation Group Annual General Meeting 19 July 2016
Held at HMS Ganges Museum, Shotley Marina 13.30
1 Apologies for absence:

The Chairman outlined the last year:

The work to the landslip to allow the footpath along the river to be used again. Very successful and a steep learning curve for all concerned. Invaluable advice from outside expert contacts

Installation of the ‘Bird Information Board’

Footpath and PC funding for the new steps between the lower and upper paths, and the opening of
these and the ‘learning space’

‘Gun deck’ has not progressed so new group may have to come forward to improve this

“Marsh Lane” project has met with unanimous approval, invaluable relationship with Rights of Way and Phil Colwill proved crucial

“Carols in the Park” had to be cancelled at short no ce due to Gale force winds. Luckily we had catered for anyone not ge ng our messages as 20 people s ll turned up

Follow up group of 50 people turned up on New Years Day to help us dispose of remaining mulled wine, hot cordial and mince pies

Sheet pile repairs were e ected to slow down the deteriora on of the ood defences un l further grant funding can be obtained
The chairman also commented on the good rela ons with the group and ‘payback’ volunteers, who help with work, and again thanked the local volunteers who helped during the year.
5 Secretary’s Report up to 30 March 2016
The ‘Volunteer’ working spreadsheet shows 500 man hours have been worked to date this year by footpath group volunteers, community repara on teams and supervisors. The calendars sold before Christmas were very well received and was the only income of the year.
6 Treasurers Report and Accounts 2015-2016
The treasurer informed the commi ee that at the beginning of the group’s nancial year the balance of account was £5,758.42. This includes £5,000 held in reserve as funding towards phase 3 of the ood defences. The sale of calendars depic ng images of the footpath raising a ne amount of £909.36. Outgoings were the purchase of the calendars and dona ons to the Ganges Museum for mee ngs.

Funding request to Parish Council for Public Liability Insurance £273.75 (Zurich).
G.R. to a end inaugural mee ng of Shotley Peninsula Tourist Ac on group (TAG).
Need for more entries re. calendar photographs. Shotley Gate well represented. Residents of Shotley and photographs of their end of the village need to be encouraged. Considera on of re naming the Footpath Group to re ect our wider remit.
The mee ng closed at 14.00.
Next mee ng 13.30 August 16 at the Scout Hut all residents welcome.
