Felixstowe-Shotley-Harwich high voltage electricity improvement scheme – River Stour Directional Drill at Whinny Queech, Shotley
Dear Resident.
UK Power Networks is responsible for delivering the electricity to the local area and as you may be aware, we are in the process of installing high voltage (33kV) electricity cables from Felixstowe into Shotley and Dovercourt. This will significantly improve the capacity and flexibility of the region’s electricity supply.
Over the past 18 months, we have been liaising with both Babergh District Council and Shotley Parish Council regarding the management of the works at Whinny Queech, as well as carrying out a Q&A session back in April for local residents.
We have commenced our works at Whinny Queech and as such a road closure has been in place since the end of August with a planned end date of 6th October. Due to delays with the works, we have had to extend this closure until 27th October, however we are aiming to have this cleared before this date. The closure is only in place from either side of the Queech and access will still be maintained from either Stourside/Kirkton Close or Lower Harlings/Kitchener Way.
