A huge well done to everyone who contributed towards the Poppy Appeal this year, with Shotley alone raising more than £2,200.
Brian Ives, the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal organiser for the area, passed on his gratitude and said: "Last year the total for Suffolk was £747,529 and while our figure may seem small by comparison, put together with other small villages and towns it highlights the old adage 'a penny from many, beats a pound from a few."
It was an especially encouraging total given the drop in numbers of collectors, with other villages on the peninsula in particular struggling to find volunteers.
