Berners ward, which includes the villages of Freston, Woolverstone, Chelmondiston, Erwarton and Shotley, now has two newly elected District Councilors.
Conservative Peter Patrick and Derek Davis, an Independent, took the seats in a field of eight candidates.

Conservatives and Independents gain from Liberal Democrats.
The Conservatives have an overall majority on Babergh District Council, the first time any party has control since the council’s inception in 1974.
The Independents are the next biggest group with eight councilors, while the Lib Dems have three seats and Labour, one.
