The weather may not be the greatest but that has not stopped some of our old favourites starting the new season.
The foot ferry running from Shotley to Harwich and Felixstowe, and back again, has started under new ownership with Christian Zemann at the helm.
Take a wander around the HMS Ganges Museum while you are waiting for the ferry. The museum, dedicated to more than 100 years of history regarding the wooden ship and then the training shore base, the museumis open 11:00 to 16:00 Saturday and Sunday.
George and Carol Barham will be on duty on the opening day, so feel free to pop in and say hello.
There are a couple of good places to take refreshments with the Shipwreck at the Marna open, while the Bristol Arms also does great food and drink. Childfrena nd dogs very welcome.
For something informal, then Buster's Burger Van is on the front, and will be open all day every day from today.
Further up the road from the river is the Shotley Rose and they are holding a Mezze night, followed by Motown/Soul band Jupiter Ray from 9pm on Saturday, April 4.
