We have been advised that the weather over the next two days will be getting worse.
The local met office are reporting :
Thursday: some sunshine after morning rain clears but showers through the day, especially during the afternoon with a few heavy ones in places.
Thursday night and into Friday: rain arriving soon after midnight from the west with a strengthening south or south westerly wind. By Friday morning rush-hour gusts could reach 40mph in places and perhaps up to 50mph in coastal districts. These winds perhaps becoming lighter and variable during the day – as the area of Low pressure travels directly over our region. Rainfall amounts in the range of 5 to 15mm could fall. At the same time, there is currently a 20% risk that rain could turn to sleet or snow in some locations. To reflect this, a Met Office Yellow Warning for Snow has been issued covering much of Bedfordshire and parts of Cambridgeshire, Essex and Hertfordshire on Friday morning. Again, this will depend on where exactly the Low pressure centre is positioned – and intensity of the rain. Any snow should not settle for long – but rain will only slowly ease from the west during the afternoon and evening.
Late Friday and Saturday: mainly dry but as another area of Low pressure heads towards the UK, there a 20% risk of heavy rain – with a risk of snow too.
Full details of the Snow Warning can be found either the Met Office website: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=warnings®ionName=ee
