Visitors to Shotley were today treated to a view of the latest record-breaking container ship slipping into harbour.
MSC Oscar, superceded MSC Globe as the largest conter-carryng ship in the world with a cargo of 19,244 containers. although many had already been off-loaded before the ship arrived at Felixstowe.
It was still an interesting sight at 395.4meters long and 59m wide, and took up two berths at Europe's largest container port.
The Oscar was built in South Korea, but may not be the largest ship for long as the shipyard in Busan has already started to build another.
