Shotley Shop Boost
Changes to the shop in Shotley were marked by an official opening carried out by parish council chairman Barrie Powell.
Manish Patel’s Premier shop and post office in Shotley has turned a former pizzeria attached to the building into a shop extension after a survey concluded people wanted a bigger range.
Customers now have a bigger choice in fresh and chilled meats, fruit and veg, and a wider selection of frozen products.
Mr Patel is being supported by his suppliers and he has negotiated lower prices, which have been passed on to his customers, including £1 for large loaves of bread, and 1.5ltr of milk also £1, and again, a more extensive choice.
Locals are already backing the decision by using the shop and a number of people turned up for the official extension opening, when Shotley parish council chairman Barrie Powell cut the ribbon.
Mr Powell said: "Manish and his family are bucking the trend by extending their shop and offering even more for the people in our village and it is most welcome."
