Shotley Rangers Awards Night
Sportsmanship, loyalty and dedication were the watchwords at Shotley Rangers’ end of season awards ceremony.
Trophies were handed to the Rangers under 15s and under 11s at the awards night, held at the Village Hall.
Clive Catchpole, the Under 15s manager, was so impressed with the lads that stuck with the team when they were forced to finish the season with just 10 players, he awarded the prestigious Clubman of the Year award to all 10.
Jordan Harwood scooped both the Supporters’ and Players’ Player of the Year accolade, while Marcus Lawrence was judged to be the most improved player. Owen Slattery was made the Manager’s Player of the Year by Clive.
There was also special recognition for Rob Pugh who has dedicated 18 years to the club.
The dwindling numbers has forced the boys to play and train next season at Woolverstone. If you would get involved with the Under 16s next season contact Clive on 787246.
Under 11s manager Marc Rowland, assisted by Tim Hanman, was delighted with the progress his youngsters have made after a difficult start to the season.
Striker Tommy Smith was voted Supporters Player of the Year, versatile Aidan Webb took the Players’ Player, Calum Watchman was judged to be the
most improved player after an impressive first season, while keeper Cameron Rowland was handed the Manager’s Player of the Season by Tim
Watchman. The prestigious Mo Richards memorial award for sportsmanship was won by Thomas Millan for his all round contribution throughout the year.
The Under 11s will be sponsored by Peninsula Pizzeria next season with a special win bonus pizza offered as an incentive.
