Auction Lots of Success
A terrific turn out and some keen bidding, today helped the Shotley Auction raise £310.70 for the Village Hall.
Nearly100 people, including 60 bidders, turned up to watch auctioneer Mel Matthews expertly plough through 210 lots, ably assisted by spotter Carol Blumfield, who stood in at the last minute due to illness.
A huge variety of objects, including a huge parrot cage, Ipswich Town memorabilia, clothes, phones, watches and furniture, went under the hammer.
“It was a wonderful turn out,” said committee member Norman Bugg. “A big thank you has to go to all the volunteers that helped put this together and make it run so well.”
The money raised helps the Village Hall Committee keep hiring costs down and deal with unexpected running issues.
Many of the lots not auctioned off have been kindly donated to the Shotley Church Heritage 700 coffee morning, which will be held at the Village Hall on Saturday, March 7, starting 10am. All welcome.
